About the event
SAMBA ROOTS
Rhythm, culture & joy · A Body Consciousness workshop
Samba is so much more than Carnival and sparkle. It was born from Afro-Brazilian communities, carried through generations as a way to gather, celebrate, express and resist. When you dance samba, you're moving with a story.
In this workshop, we'll:
· Discover the roots. We'll begin with a short, simple story of where samba comes from, what's behind it, and why it moves the way it does.
· Learn the basics of samba no pé. This is the main samba step, the footwork at the heart of Brazilian samba. We'll break it down step by step, the Body Consciousness way: with awareness, rhythm and patience.
